I think I have heard more about “Jesus” from the Left when it comes to illegal immigration than on all other political issues combined.
It’s funny how they bash Christians and mock the Bible, and yet they toss Jesus’s name around like a fat doobie at a Snoop Dogg concert when it comes to “why” we should embrace a foreign invasion on our Southern border.
They warble on about “Jesus was an immigrant”. Uh … no, he wasn’t. His folks fled to Egypt for a short time when Herod tried to kill him, and after Herod died and went to hell, they went back to Israel.
Please note, this is for the slow folks that make up the Marxist cabal inside the Beltway that Jesus didn’t …
- Stay in Egypt and milk their system.
- Christ didn’t crap on their cities’ sidewalks and deal fentanyl.
- He didn’t demand free dental, free housing, a free smartphone, and five grand a month.
- And lastly, he didn’t terrorize subway passengers, carjack a pregnant mom’s minivan, and whizz on the Egyptian flag while waving his national banner during a “mostly peaceful” protest of the Egyptian government.
To compare what Jesus did, for a brief period, in order to fulfill the prophetic word given in Hosea 11:1, “Out of Egypt I did call my Son” to what’s being criminally done to us by millions of illegals is both laughable and damnable. It’s laughable because that’s stretching the biblical account of Jesus’s life and message more than Popeye and Bluto elongated Olive Oyl’s arms fighting over her sweet love and affection. It’s damnable because the Left’s perverted his word, adding to it a meaning that isn’t there and doing that for clearly evil purposes.
In addition – and I love this one – they drone on about how “Jesus loved and welcomed foreigners and strangers, and we should too.” Ok … I’ll grant you that, but please note the foreigners and strangers Christ embraced were not impenitent and implacable drug cartels, child rapists, human traffickers, Muslim terrorists, fentanyl dealers, MS-13 gang bangers, and lawless military-aged male hordes who didn’t give a flip about Israel or converting to Christianity.
Another thing about the leadership on the Left that I find rich is how they say it’s cool for us to disobey our immigration laws during this insidious invasion and yet, during the COVID scamdemic they said we must obey the various mandates unconstitutionally foisted upon us by the various Faustian Faucis out there. During COVID it was, “Obey the mandates!” During the current border invasion of the last three years, it’s been, essentially, “Blank our immigration laws, our national security, and the general rule of law and order! Let chaos ensue!” By the intentional embracing of lawlessness, the Left and indolent RINOs on the Right, have ruined our cities. They’ve unleashed hell on our land. Even if it stops now and we attempt radical efforts to undo Biden’s damage, it’s still gonna take decades to recover from what evil politicians did to us in a scant thirty-six months.
So, what’s the biblical stand the church should take with regard to illegal immigration?
Let’s get the obvious out of the way, Christians are called to be compassionate and merciful toward strangers and sojourners (Ex. 22:21; Lev. 19:33–34; Matt. 25:35). Duh. In addition, Christians should also augur for a compassionate and merciful immigration policy of which America has one on the books that’s a lot more welcoming than China’s, Iran’s, and Burkina Faso’s. However, that is not the dilemma we’re dealing with. The question at hand for the Christian concerns illegal immigration – whether it is biblically wrong to violate a nation’s borders and transgress its immigration laws.
Question. Can I steal your car? Can I take your wife? Can I steal your ID? Can I kill your dog? Can I burn your house down? All solid, “Nopes” if you’re Christian or a law-abiding citizen, correct? Can I enter your country illegally? No. You need to go back because our law says you cannot illegally enter. It must be done properly.
When we lived in Miami we had many, many friends who immigrated legally from all over the world. For instance, my barber was from France. He made over $300,000 a year doing high-end fashion shows. He was an asset to the States and yet, it took him over ten years to become a citizen. He spent a lot of cash on lawyers helping him get it done. In addition, he had to study and appreciate our founding documents and swear allegiance to them and to our country. He had to embrace our national identity. Can you guess who’s really pissed off watching this current ollie-ollie-in-come-free mass invasion on our Southern border? If you guess my former barber, you guessed right. He immigrated lawfully. What’s going on now from San Diego to Brownsville is pure, uncut, lawlessness.
Romans 13 makes it abundantly clear that God expects everyone to obey the righteous laws of our government.
Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.
(Rom. 13:1-5 NASB1995)
Did you catch that “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities”? That includes “dreamers'' who’re fleeing Managua to mow our grass.
Simply put, if the law is good, and that’s good according to the scripture, then that law and the law enforcer are doing what God ordained them to do and they have a “sword” to enforce that ordinance on those who will not obey. Oh, and BTW, Paul calls their disobedience to a good law (ie. proper and lawful immigration), by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, as “practicing evil.”
Here’s a simple test if something is from God or not. If it’s from God, and thus good, it brings “life and life more abundantly” (John 10:10). If it’s from hell there’s theft, murder, and destruction because the “thief comes to kill, steal and destroy” (John 10:10). I’m guessin’ the latter defines our border more than former. What do you think?
Back to Romans 13. The only exception to Romans 13:1-5 is when a law of the government forces us to disobey a command of God (Acts 5:29) like during the unconstitutional and unbiblical COVID lockdowns, guidelines, and vax mandates. Then the Christian is duty-bound to civil disobedience.
Here’s what you won’t hear at youth groups and during your main Sunday services in most evangelical churches and you sure as heck won’t hear at 99.9% of your Catholic churches: Illegal immigration is the breaking of our government’s law. There is nothing in scripture that contradicts the idea of a sovereign nation having immigration laws and secure borders. Hello. Therefore, it is rebellion against God to unlawfully enter another country. Which means, illegal immigration is a sin and those who do it and those who aid and abet it need to be stopped.
Finally, do you want to see immigration done right? There’s this little book tucked away in the Old Testament called, “Ruth”.
Ruth was a Moabitess. Moabites were not only strangers to Israel but they were loathed ancestors of Lot’s incestuous dalliance with his daughters and were commanded by Moses to be purged from the people of God (Deut. 23:1-5).
The book of Ruth states that there was a famine in the land. This famine pushed a rich dude named, Elimelech and his wife Naomi and their two sons to flee to Moab. While in Moab Elimelech croaks and their boys decide to marry two Moabite girls named Orpah and Ruth. Then those two dudes die and Ruth decides to leave Moab, her country, and ride with Naomi to Israel, her nation of origin.
Naomi was definitely not the happiest broad on Instagram at the time and she tried to dissuade Ruth from migrating to Israel and instead go back to Moab with Orpah. Ruth refused and this led to one of the most beloved declarations of all time. These famous verses are right up there with 1st Corinthians 13, the Love Chapter, as being the most recited scriptures in the Bible during a couple’s nuptials. The funny thing is that what Ruth declared was about her fidelity to a country and the country’s ideals, not her fiance.
Then she [Naomi] said, “Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and her gods; return after your sister-in-law.” But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the Lord do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me. (Ruth 1:15-17)
Check it out: Ruth had no desire to go back to Moab. She had no desire to be a Moabite in Israel. She had no desire to bring her idols along. She’s totally divesting herself of her nationality by saying, “Your people shall be my people. Your God, my God and if I’m lying about this I want the Lord to curse me” (author’s paraphrase). Wow. Please note Ruth didn’t flout the law … demand her way … and she had no entitlement mentality. That’s what you call proper immigration, my friend. She adapted, not Israel. She changed, not the nation. She demonstrated extreme commitment to her new nation.
Lastly, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that this law-abiding immigrant from a crap nation scored a godly wealthy husband and became Jesus’s great-great-great-grandma (Matt.1:5). See what can happen when you immigrate God’s way? You get “life and life more abundantly.”
