Natural Disasters Are A Divine Wake Up Call

If the LA fires don’t put the fear of God in you then I don’t know what would – such brutal and widespread devastation. Tens of thousands of homes and businesses burned to the ground. Poof…gone. Can you imagine? One day you are enjoying the spoils of comfortable living in a beautiful part of the US and the next day it’s a barely recognizable, burnt to a crisp, apocalyptic hellscape. Unreal.

Look, I’m no fan of La-La-Land but I wouldn’t wish what happened to them on my worst enemy. What I do wish on them, or rather, pray will happen to them, especially the unwashed in Cali who were impacted directly by the wildfires is that they would close in with Christ like never before. Yep, I pray that a big ol’ demon-slaying spiritual awakening would rise out of those ashes and LA would indeed become the City of Angels.

For the Pharisees out there who think that’s a kookie idea, I’ll remind you that one of God’s top jobs is redeeming hellish places and people that the self-righteous have written off. King Jimmy put it this way…

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.”
- 1 Cor. 1:27-29

I pray that the Holy Ghost rakes a bunch of Southern Californians into the Kingdom of God. Yep, I pray for a fresh Great Awakening to smack that land like never before and that Isaiah 61:3 would be fulfilled in real-time namely; “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.”

Clash Ministries is here to do two things, namely, put brains and cojones on Christians. Yep, our holy job is renewing minds (Rom.12:1-2) and emboldening hearts (Prov.28:1). Your generosity helps us throttle the enemy by equipping God's people to live bold, wild and free in Him. You are a vital part of this ministry and we could not do this without you. Thank you for your faithful gifts and partnership and remember to always ... stay rowdy!

Why Do Churches Separate The Young From The Old? 8 MIN READ ◦ DOUG GILES It’s weird that the Bible champions the older schooling the younger, and yet, your typical American church removes the older from the younger and tosses their tutelage to an over-ebullient twentysomething. The discipleship and mentoring of young people was the duty of older generations. They’re the ones that the fresh squabs were to get their biblical wisdom, character, and faith stories from. Hello. Herewith are a...

When Life Kicks You In The Teeth... 3 MIN READ ◦ DOUG GILES Herewith, are seven little nuggets on how to steady oneself for growth in God and in life when (not if) you get kicked in the teeth by some bad crap. Stay objective. David said in Ps. 42:5 (NASB), “Why are you in despair, my soul? And why are you restless within me? Wait for God, for I will again praise Him For the help of His presence, my God.” I don’t know if you caught this or not, but David is talking to David. David is taking an...

Get A Job Before You Get A Dream 1 MIN READ ◦ DOUG GILES One thing that gets overlooked about Joseph is that before God dropped an epic dream on him the scripture states that he “was pasturing the flock with his brothers while he was still a youth…” (Gen.37:2). So, what’s my point? Well, it’s this junior: Joseph had a job. He wasn’t living off mommy’s American Express card. He wasn’t some pasty skin, indolent, indoor boy. The young dude ran livestock. He’s not spending fifty hours a week...
