The Weapon Most Christians Ignore

The Weapon Most Christians Ignore

“The devil is nimble; he can run apace; he is light of foot; he hath overtaken many....They that would have heaven must run for it."

- John Bunyan

Paul ends the armor passage like this:

“With all prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit…” (Eph. 6:18a)

Notice something.

He lays out all the armor—

then finishes with prayer.

Not as an add-on.

Not as a side note.

As the thing that activates everything else.

Because without prayer—

the armor doesn’t function the way it should.

You can know truth—

but not walk in it.

You can have faith—

but not apply it.

You can know the Word—

but not use it.

Prayer is what connects you—

to The Source.

And most people neglect it.

Not because they don’t believe in it—

but because they don’t prioritize it.

It doesn’t feel urgent.

It doesn’t feel productive.

It doesn’t give immediate feedback.

So it gets pushed aside.

And slowly—

everything weakens.

Because you’re disconnected.

Prayer is not a ritual.

It’s not a routine to check off.

It’s connection with your Creator.

Real connection.

Through Christ we have direct access to God.

And that access changes everything.

Because when you’re connected—

you’re aligned.

And when you’re aligned—

you’re effective.

Without it—

you’re operating in your own strength.

And that only goes so far.

Paul says:

“Pray at all times.”

Not occasionally.

Not when things get bad.

At all times.

That doesn’t mean you’re constantly speaking.

It means you’re constantly aware.

Open.

You move through your day—

with that awareness.

You stay engaged.

That’s a different way of living.

Most people treat prayer like an emergency button.

Something they hit—

when things go wrong.

But prayer is not just for crisis.

It’s for consistent intimacy with The Lord.

This consistency builds strength.

And strength prepares you for crisis.

So when something hits—

you’re not scrambling.

You’re steady.

Because you’re prayed up.

Another thing:

Prayer is not about performance.

You don’t need perfect words.

You don’t need long speeches.

You need honesty.

Real communication.

Direct.

Unfiltered.

Because God is not impressed by language.

He responds to sincerity.

And when you approach it like that—

prayer becomes natural.

Not forced.

Not awkward.

Real.

Paul also says:

“Pray in the Spirit.”

That means you’re not just talking—

you’re aligning with His will.

You’re not just expressing your thoughts—

you’re allowing God to shape them.

That takes time.

It takes attention.

But when it happens—

your perspective changes.

You start seeing things differently.

You start responding differently.

Because you’re not just reacting anymore.

You’re locked into the will of God.

Following His Spirit.

And alignment is power.

Paul also says:

“Be on the alert with all perseverance…” (Eph. 6:18b)

That ties prayer—

to awareness.

Because it’s easy to get spiritually dull.

Even when you start strong.

Life gets busy.

You get distracted.

And slowly—

Your heavenly connection fades.

That’s why perseverance matters.

You stay consistent—

even when you don’t feel like it.

Especially then.

Because discipline sustains what emotion starts.

And if you rely on emotion—

you’ll be inconsistent.

But if you build discipline—

you’ll stay connected to God.

And that connection—

is what keeps everything working.

So prayer is not optional.

It’s essential.

It powers everything.

And without it—

you’re not operating at full strength.
