Are You Girded With Truth or Clothed With Bunkum?

Are You Girded With Truth or Clothed With Bunkum?

"Enemy-occupied territory--that is what this world is. Christianity is the story of how the rightful king has landed, you might say landed in disguise, and is calling us all to take part in a great campaign in sabotage." - C.S. Lewis

“Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth.” - Eph.6:14

Everything starts here.

Truth.

Not emotion.

Not experience.

Not preference.

But Biblical Truth.

Paul says:

“Stand firm… having girded your loins with truth.”

That’s first listed in The Armor of God for a reason.

Because without truth—

nothing else holds.

Truth is not one piece of the armor.

It’s the foundation of all of it.

If truth is off—

everything else is unstable.

And we are living in a time where truth is constantly being redefined.

“You have your truth.”

“I have my truth.”

No.

That’s not truth.

That’s preference.

Truth is objective.

It exists whether you like it or not.

And if you build your life on anything else—

you will eventually collapse.

This is where a lot of believers get exposed.

They grow up around Christianity.

They hear messages.

They feel things.

They have experiences.

But they never anchor themselves in truth.

In particular, The Apostle’s Doctrine (Acts 2:42).

So when pressure hits—

they don’t have anything solid to stand on.

And they drift.

By the way, you don’t drift into strength.

You drift into compromise (Heb. 2:1).

Truth has to be learned.

Understood.

Internalized.

Meditated upon.

You don’t absorb it by accident.

And this is where the culture gets aggressive.

It doesn’t just ignore truth.

It replaces it.

With:

  • Feelings
  • Narratives
  • Trends

And if you’re not grounded—

you get duped.

Truth is not just something you agree with.

It’s something you build on (Matt. 7:24-28)

It shapes:

  • How you think
  • How you decide
  • How you respond

Without truth—

you’re reactive and malleable.

With truth—

you’re stable and immovable.

And stability in a war—

is everything.

Because the enemy doesn’t always attack with force.

Sometimes he attacks with confusion.

Subtle.

Gradual.

Just enough to shift your thinking.

And once your thinking shifts—

your direction follows (Prov. 23:7).

That’s why truth matters so much.

It doesn’t just inform you.

It anchors you (Heb. 6:19).

Jesus said:

“You will know the truth—and the truth will set you free.” - John 8:32

Not comfort.

Not distraction.

Truth.

Because truth exposes lies.

And lies are the primary weapon of the enemy (John 8:44).

He doesn’t need to physically overpower you—

if he can mislead you.

If he can get you to believe something false—

you will make decisions based on it.

And those decisions—

will take you out.

So truth, sound doctrine, is not optional.

It’s survival.

And here’s the part most people avoid:

Truth will confront you—

before it frees you.

It will expose things you don’t want to see.

Correct things you don’t want to change.

But if you lean into it—

it stabilizes everything.

So the question is:

Do you actually love truth—

or do you just like comfort and being an idiot?

Because those are not the same.People who love truth—

grow.

People who avoid truth—

drift.

And in a war—

drift is dangerous.

That’s urgent. Because you can have everything— and still lose— if you’re not paying attention. Most people don’t fall— because of one big moment. They drift. Slow. Subtle....
