Charlie Kirk or Charlie Sheen?

Charlie Kirk or Charlie Sheen?

3 MIN READ ◦ DOUG GILES

After Charlie Kirk was publicly assassinated, a wave of adoration, leading to a flood of promised imitation of Kirk’s devotion to Christ, swept the Church. Christian young men, in particular, vowed to follow in CK’s footsteps.

I saw this one dude on TV who said he was going to follow Charlie’s lead “come hell or high water,” and I’m looking at this person and wondering: Are you talking about Charlie Sheen or Charlie Kirk?

Charlie Kirk was a serious, disciplined young man who deeply understood the scripture, culture, and the complicated political milieu in which we dwell in the United States of Liberal Acrimony, and he’s carted this bank of serious data since he was a teenager.

To be a “Charlie Kirk” will cost you a pound of flesh, young squire.

It’ll stretch you like a bungee cord with Rosie O’Donnell dangling off the end of it.

To be honest … most young people are just emotionally flapping about mirroring Kirk’s glide path.

That kind of walk with God takes time, massive work, humiliation, and accountability, and most young people won’t pay that price, but that’s the price Charlie paid.

Indeed, and I’m a guessin’ that most emotional GenZers will probably end up imitating Charlie Sheen instead. Y’know … partying, being silly, unmoored gadabouts who blow off serious discipleship because that wrecks the fleshly desires of their lower cortex monkey-brain. No offense to Charlie Sheen, of course.

Here’s a simple test to determine whether or not, in the last four months, you’re holding on to your commitment to follow Charlie’s lead in life. Are you ready? Here we go …

  1. Have you upped your devouring of the Bible, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence, or are you still an undisciplined dipstick?
  2. Are you still a man whore, or are you saving yourself for marriage?
  3. Do you seek fame or faithfulness to God? Do you long for the applause of men or the approval of God?
  4. Are you holy-cause oriented, or a self-obsessed me monkey?
  5. Can you be alone with God, or do you need to be entertained all the time?
  6. Do you have a fit body and a fat mind, or are your mind and body fit?
  7. Are you addicted to fun and allergic to godly duty?
  8. Do you have sage older mentors who speak into your life, or do you hang with young tinkerpots who haven’t accomplished anything?
  9. Do you speak your mind, or do you wear buttsmacker lip balm?
  10. Are you ready to die for your beliefs or do you run from conflict?

Young males: My query for you is this … do you want to truly follow a heroic example like CK?

If you said yes and you’re not full of more crap than a colicky baby’s diaper, then my advice to you is disappear in the Scriptures and become ten times better than your typical dullard evangelical.

In addition, serve your church and community in the most serious areas of need, and I predict that, eventually, you will have a major impact on this planet for God’s glory.

If you don’t do the aforementioned and waste your time and spend it uselessly, you will probably live a life of vanity and STDs, because you avoided the holy blood, sweat, and tears that CK had that led him to leave a big scar on Satan’s backside.

So, young person, what’s it going to be?

Are you going to be a Charlie Kirk or a Charlie Sheen?

Jesus Said This Man Was "Great" - Today's Sassy Church Would Disagree 7 MIN READ ◦ DOUG GILES Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist!” – Matthew 11:11 (NASB) What’s “great” nowadays? Well, let’s see. In the United States of Liberal Acrimony, this is “great” and celebrated by the Lunatic Left. Why Do Churches Separate The Young From The Old? 8 MIN READ ◦ DOUG GILES It’s weird that the Bible champions the older schooling the younger, and yet, your typical American church removes the older from the younger and tosses their tutelage to an over-ebullient twentysomething. The discipleship and mentoring of young people was the duty of older generations. They’re the ones that the fresh squabs were to get their biblical wisdom, character, and faith stories from. Hello. Herewith are a...
